Kalimantan is the name of the Indonesian region on Borneo Island, neighboring East Malaysia and Brunei. In the southernmost province, South Kalimantan, Archipelago International will be opening Hotel NEO Banjarbaru in the developing city of Banjarbaru, closely bordering the capital of Banjarmasin. Banjarbaru has grown significantly in the past decade, with expanding real estate ventures and a booming commerce industry that has inevitably attracted a larger and wealthier population.

For guests staying at Hotel NEO Banjarbaru, one of the most popular attractions in the area is the Lambung Mangkurat Museum showcasing various types of historical and cultural relics. Visitors can view such artifacts as the Sultanate of Banjar, The Great Temple, The Laras Temple, wood carvings, and tools for agriculture, making household furniture and traditional musical instruments. Another popular tourist activity in the area is to take part in Diamond Panning. Located in the Cempaka district about 7 kilometers from Banjarbaru, miners have dug large holes at a depth of about 10-12 meters using traditional tools.

Strategically situated near to Banjarbaru’s emerging city center and the bustling Martapura Jewelry Market, Hotel NEO Banjarbaru is just 10 minutes from the Syamsudin Noor International Airport for guests' utmost convenience. In true NEO style, the hotel is conceptualized to meet the needs of the modern-day urban professional, presenting a stylish yet affordable hotel alternative. It is completely smoke-free throughout and offers modern facilities topped off with a professional service.

Each of the 45 guest rooms will be decked out with upmarket amenities typically unheard of in other budget hotels, such as 32” LCD TVs, 100% cotton bed sheets and duvets, as well as in-room massage services. Outside of the rooms, guests will also find an abundance of quality hotel facilities including 3 stylish meeting rooms, a coffee shop and complimentary high speed Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel.

“Here at Archipelago International, we are continually searching for the best locations throughout Indonesia and beyond to launch our hotels. Sometimes these locations are already tourist hotspots, whilst others, like South Kalimantan, are still relatively undiscovered yet show incredible potential for the future. As such, we are extremely proud to be opening the first Hotel NEO in South Kalimantan, and we hope that with our presence, we will help to further boost this promising destination.” Said Mr. John Flood – President & CEO of Archipelago International.
